Newest Loudoun County tasting room officially open for business in Downtown Purcellville

PURCELLVILLE, Va. (September 20, 2011) – Purcellville Mayor Bob Lazaro honored Purcellville’s newest wine tasting room, 29 Vines, with a surprise ribbon cutting ceremony using the town’s first official ribbon, at the winery’s Grand Opening at its Downtown tasting room on Saturday afternoon.

Grand-Opening-29-Vines29 Vines opened doors at noon on Saturday and was welcomed to the neighborhood by a full house of patrons all day. Owners Matt and Mary Beth Barbagallo and staff poured wine from local wineries Tarara and Fabbioli Cellars in addition to their own 29 Vines vintages.

Local author Meredith Thomas was on site to sign copies of her new book Images of America: Purcellville, a pictorial history of the quaint Northern Virginia town in western Loudoun County. The book is available for purchase in the tasting room for $21.99.

The Grand Opening was a dual celebration for winemaker Matt Barbagallo, who shared his birthday with the first official day of business for the tasting room.

Following the Grand Opening celebration, the Barbagallos hosted a private gathering for friends, family and industry colleagues in the 29 Vines tasting room.

“To see the number of people come through the doorway with excitement that something “adult” has moved into town, and that stays open late at night, was a true conviction that what I had been thinking all along was correct,” said owner Mary Beth Barbagallo.

29 Vines Tasting Room is located at located at 105 E. Main St. in Purcellville, and is open Friday through Monday from noon to 10 p.m. The room is also available for private events and group tastings by appointment.
